No Aluminum Please:
I am passionate! Passionate for enlightening people about what they put in and on their bodies and I’m willing to risk scaring you just a little in order to help you be good to youself. This isn’t just another baseless scare tactic. Nope….not from me! This is tough love with a healthy dose of reality. The following is valuable information you need to know about the aluminum in many deodorants and antiperspirants found in grocery stores nationwide.
Aluminum chlorohydrate is a common skin irritant and poisonous neurotoxin that accumulates in the body. The World Health Organization has linked exposure to aluminum to Alzeimer’s, with higher frequency of deodorant use corresponding to higher risks of developing Alzheimer’s. Cancer researcher Philippa Darbre, PhD. of University of Reading says evidence is mounting that the aluminum based active-ingredients in antiperspirants can mimic estrogen in the body. “Life time exposure to estrogen is the risk factor which is tied most strongly to breast cancer”.
Sobering information, isn’t it? The best part of owning, formulating and manufacturing my own skin care line is that I can be an active part of the solution. With extensive research and development I’ve created a fantastic deodorant (aluminum free, of course!) and I want to share it with you. Pit Powder will change the way you see natural deodorants. I invite you to try our newest addition to the Muddy H2O family and learn how to care for your body inside and out!
10 Tips to Deal with Dry Winter Skin
If you’re like me then you’re experiencing the dry itchy skin of winter: “scratch, scratch”. The air is cold and dry so I find myself both dehydrated and lacking enough oil to keep me soft and silky. Here are a few of my favorite ideas to keep you soft this time of year.
1. Drink a small glass of water (never cold) before going to bed and immediately when you awake in the morning.
2. Steam yourself either in the shower or in a sauna. You can even steam your face over a hot pot of water.
3. Exfoliate or dry-brush well before bathing and then moisturizing afterward.
4. Use a heavier moisturizer in the winter than you do in the summer.
5. When you’re outside wear gloves to keep your hands warm. This encourages the oil gland to function properly.
6. Regular excersize will help keep your blood pumping and your oil production regular.
7. Honey is a wonderful natural humectant and I encourage you to use it in your bath water. Also try applying it directly to your face while soaking in the tub.
8. Keep a spritzer full of water in your desk, locker or glove box. Mist your face whenever you think about it.
9. Listen to your body when it craves heavier and higher fat foods in the winter. (We’re talking the “good fats” so be sure to read the labels!) Try replacing some of those summer foods with nuts, seeds, avocados or ghee. It’s as simple as adding ½ tsp. of organic butter to your oatmeal in the morning…yummy!
10. Use a great hydrating mask twice a week. Muddy H2O Chocolate or Chocolate Blueberry Mask fit’s nicely into a healthy winter beauty regimen!
Seasonal Winter Fruit Masks:
This year I’ve discovered even more ways to enjoy my favorite winter fruits; quince, pomegranate and apple cider. Their juices make wonderful refreshing masks loaded with nutrients, pectin and enzymes!
1 tsp. Muddy H2O Oatmeal Mask
½ tsp. Honey
1 ½ tsp. Favorite Winter Fruit Juice
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Apply to your face and neck area and relax for 15 minutes. Rinse well with water and pat dry. Moisturize as needed.
To Wash or Not to Wash?
A few years ago I was asked by a man no less, “Why do you wash your face twice a day if you’re complaining about always having dry skin”. So I had to ponder this. Here is what I came up with. A good cleaning is in order at night since you have the dirt, grime and toxins from the day to wash away before settling in for a good nights sleep. In the morning all you should have is some sweat and secretions from your skins nightly functions. So in the morning I tried just rinsing my face well with cool water. Wow! What a difference. And I haven’t had a day of dry skin since. Sometimes the answer to our problems can be so simple, give it a try and see how your skin responds.
The Great Chocolate Pumpkin Mask
When making pumpkin pies for the family this season make sure to reserve a few teaspoons for yourself. While fresh pumpkin contains more nutrients canned pumpkin has more enzymes available for exfoliating because of the high temperature it’s processed at. So if time is a premium use canned instead of fresh and feel great about it!
1 tsp. Muddy H2O Chocolate Mask
1 tsp. Honey
1 tsp. Pumpkin
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Apply to your face and neck area and relax for 15 minutes. Rinse well with water and pat dry. Moisturize as needed.
Why Pit Powder?
Read what people are saying about pit powder!
Perspiration is recognized as perhaps the most effective way of removing toxins and waste from the body. Most of us have 400 to 800 chemical residues stored in our bodies that lower our resistance to chronic disease. These toxins can remain in the body indefinitely unless removed through active means, such as sweating.
Most personal care products contain chemicals that are absorbed by the skin and inhibit its task of waste removal. If we are not sweating, we are missing about 30% of our body’s ability to cleanse itself.
There is a new choice on the deodorant horizon!
Muddy H2O Pit Powder is made of 100% natural food grade ingredients that actually
encourage the lymph system to cleanse and detoxify itself. Sweat is broken down by the enzymatic and antibacterial action of proprietary essential oils. Make the healthy choice!
